DuPont™ Graphics products take printing to the next level of durability, quality, strength and flexibility. They are designed to easily and affordably meet the requirements of a vast range of printing applications.
DuPont™ Tyvek® brand protective material is a miracle of science from DuPont. It is a family of tough durable sheet products of high-density polyethylene fibers. The sheet is formed first by spinning continuous strands of very fine interconnected fibers, and then bonding them together with heat and pressure.
Tyvek® is white, non-toxic, chemically inert and contains no binders. The non-woven sheet, after bonding, combines a good printing or coating surface, high opacity and toughness to a degree unique among sheet products of similar weight and price.

Tyvek® is produced in two different types, namely 10 and 14. The fibers in Type 10 Style are bonded to form a tough, dense, opaque sheet. The dense packing of the fine, interconnected fibers produces a smooth surface, high opacity and whiteness. The large number of bonds per unit area results in a stable and abrasion resistant surface with a stiffness similar to paper. Fiber bonding of Type 14 is restricted to discrete points in the non-woven sheet, producing a high degree of fiber mobility, and giving the non-woven a fabric-like drape.

DuPont™ Tyvek® gives a more distinctive look to anything you print than common paper ever could. It feels more natural and has far better flat, precision folding qualities than synthetic films. And although it isn't a fabric, it can easily function as one.
In fact, the physical properties of DuPont™ Tyvek® make them ideal substrates for most of your printing and converting applications. Whether you produce tags and labels, or banners and signs, or maps and documents, Tyvek® adds strength, durability and long life to virtually every application. Plus, it's 100% recyclable , making it an attractive solution for environmentally-conscious decision makers.

Durable
DuPont™ Tyvek® is a unique nonwoven material only from DuPont. Tyvek® is made of pure high density polyethylene fibres randomly laid and compressed to form a remarkably tough printing substrate that is ideal for all applications where durability & tear resistance is of prime importance. Tyvek® can resist repeated folding and flexing without tearing. It can also be glued, laminated, sewn, stapled and fixed.
Tyvek® combines the performance of paper, film and fabric. Because of its unique physical properties, Tyvek® has already been successfully used for a wide variety of applications such as:
- Tags
- Self-adhesive labels
- Banners & signs
- Maps
- Manuals & documents
- Wrist bands
- Racing numbers
Lightweight
Tyvek® is incredibly light and flexible. It boasts a remarkable strength-to-weight ratio, so coupled with the high tear strength and recycleability it is therefore an ideal printing substrate for banners and signs.
Recyclable
Made of high-density polyethylene fibres (HDPE), Tyvek® is 100% recyclable just like plastic bottles.
Tear-resistant
DuPont™ Tyvek® is made to perform in harsh, rugged and extreme conditions. Water, chemicals, heat, cold, rough handling, long-term outdoor use? No problem! Tyvek® is tear-, puncture-, water-, UV- and chemical-resistant.
When wet, paper absorbs humidity and falls apart. Tyvek® is totally waterproof keeping your message perfectly intact.
Tyvek® is not affected by most acids, bases and salts. It has excellent rot and mildew resistance and resists soiling and staining.
Tyvek® is almost indestructible and can endure temperatures ranging from -75°C to +118°C !
Printable
DuPont™ Tyvek® guarantees a profound and lasting impression. Tyvek® can be easily printed with screen, offset, UV inkjet, thermal transfer, digital (some), inkjet (coated styles), Flexo, HP Indigo and Letterpress printing processes.
Withstands outdoor exposure
There’s no need for protective coating on your tags, labels or whatever … as long as you print them on DuPont™ Tyvek® substrate.
We say that with confidence because a standardized accelerated aging test (SAE J1960, to be precise) proves it. DuPont™ Tyvek® withstands outdoor exposure for as long as a year!
Below are recommended outdoor exposure times for different styles of Tyvek®:
3-6 months exposure
1025D, 1057D, 4158D
1 year of exposure
1073D, 1082D, 4173D, 4182D
Easily converted
DuPont™ Tyvek® is a unique and remarkably tough printing substrate incredibly easy to convert. Tyvek® can be easily:
- Coated
- Embossed
- Folded (dead foldable)
- Glued
- Hot foil stamped
- Laminated
- Perforated & punched
- Stitched
- Welded and heat sealed
Improved ink and coating adhesion
This enhances the effectiveness of any ink, adhesive or other coating and makes Tyvek® easy to use on flexo, letterpress, offset or some digital presses.
Corona treatment on both sides of DuPont™ Tyvek® styles with a “D” suffix and style 1079 increases surface wettability, as measured by its improved surface tension (40-42 dynes/cm2).
What’s more, the Corona treatment on Tyvek® lasts more than 20 years, so you can store a roll or box of Tyvek® without having to re-treat it, as you now have to do for films and other synthetic substrates.
FDA-approved for food contact and sterile applications
If you’re printing tags or labels for food contact or sterile applications, we’ve got just what you need. Tyvek® 1059B can be used for food contact or sterile applications because it's FDA-approved. And you can be sure that your critical data will remain clear and readable under the most demanding conditions—because it's Tyvek®.

DuPont™ Tyvek® is made of high density polyethylene, a material that is readily recyclable, unlike many other synthetics. Today, a recycling program for envelopes and banners is available in the US and Malaysia. A more fully-developed program is underway. In addition, because it is chemically inert and contains no binders, Tyvek® can be safely landfilled.
